Bontra

The first AI talent agent for insurance.

Your agent works while you sleep, and only messages when he finds something worth your time.

Here's why

Recruitment is broken for both sides.

If you work in insurance

You get pestered about jobs you'd never take. Then ghosted on the one you would.

So you tune it all out, and miss the move that was actually worth hearing about.

If you're hiring

You pay around 20%, and still end up sifting the CVs yourself.

The shortlist arrives, most of it isn't right for the role, and you pay a hefty fee for the pleasure.

Same cause on both sides. A middleman incentivised to fill the role quickly, not to find someone who really wants it.

So we built an agent instead.

Meet Freddie. He works for the person, not the vacancy. One conversation, then he watches the market in the background and stays quiet until something genuinely fits.

Freddie

Morning. Based on your CV, you've got five years broking FI risks, the last three running your own book. What should the next step look like?

More responsibility, and the money to match

Do you want to stay in FI broking, or are you open to other areas?

I'd like to stay in FI, but I'm open to underwriting

Great, I've made a note of that. I'll keep an eye on the market and message you when I find something that fits.

And companies get shortlists that finally fit, for a fraction of the usual fee. One agent. Both sides better off.

The numbers that matter.

These aren't targets. They're the terms.

10%

Flat placement fee, against a market standard of around 20%.

100%

Of candidates hear back. Every application gets an answer.

Free

Candidates don't pay a penny. Ever. Companies only pay when they hire.

Everyone wins.

For candidates

Your own talent agent.

Completely free and confidential. Freddie keeps an eye out for you, even if you're not looking to move right now.

How it works

  1. 1Tell Freddie what you want

One conversation. Show Freddie your CV and tell him what you want to do next.

  2. 2He watches the market for you

Always on, always searching, while you get on with your job. When the right step forward appears, you're the first to know.

  3. 3He only calls when it's right

No spam, ever. Freddie only puts a role in front of you when he thinks it fits where your career is heading.

The catch? There isn't one.

What if I'm not looking right now?

Then you're exactly who Freddie is built for. He works quietly in the background, so whether the right move shows up next month or next year, you'll hear about it. Nothing happens until you say so.

What does it cost me?

Nothing. Companies pay us a small fee when they hire. You never pay a penny.

Will my employer find out?

No. We never contact your employer or share your details without your permission. Everything you tell Freddie stays confidential.

For companies

Hire better. Pay less.

The best insurance talent, on a shortlist that actually fits. For a fee far below the usual 20%.

How it works

  1. 1Tell us about the role

Dump whatever documents you have on us and tell us what your ideal candidate looks like: seniority, specialism, team culture, whatever actually matters to you. One brief, then we go to work.

  2. 2Get a matched shortlist

Bontra sources, qualifies and introduces you to great people. You get a short list of people who are right for the role, and you can speak to them immediately.

  3. 3Hire for a fraction of the fee

The placement fee is dramatically lower than a traditional agency's. Our technology does the work that drives the cost, so the saving comes back to you.

Agencies charge around 20%. We charge dramatically less.

What does it cost?

You only pay when you hire through us. We charge a 10% placement fee, against a market standard of around 20%. Our technology does the sourcing and qualifying, so the cost of that work comes down and we pass on the saving.

What roles can I hire for?

We're currently focussed on broking, underwriting and claims. Bontra was built specifically for insurance, so our AI understands individual specialisms and the full range of roles rather than just matching keywords. The remaining functions are on the way.

Can AI really be as good as a human?

We're not trying to replace people. The parts of hiring that matter most, like judgement, chemistry and the conversation where you both know it's right, aren't things software should be touching.

What technology is genuinely better at is finding the people to have those conversations with. Bontra is built on real data from a huge range of insurance roles, so it recognises a strong fit accurately, at a scale no one person could manage. You still meet the candidate and make the decision. We just make sure the right people are in front of you, without a recruiter sitting in the middle.

Do candidates actually hear back?

Every single one of them. Being left guessing is the main reason good people disengage from a hiring process, so it was the first thing we fixed.

Built for a market where everyone knows everyone.

The London market is a village. Bontra is designed around that.

Invisible until you say so

No employer sees your name, your CV, or that you're open at all, until you approve the introduction.

Everyone hears back

Every candidate gets an answer on every role. Silence isn't an outcome on Bontra.

Who's behind Bontra.

Bontra was built by ambitious insurance people, for ambitious insurance people.
